Is it as good as they say? I'd like one in 270 Winchester. How does this rifle compare with the Remington, Winchester, and Browning Bolt guns? What would be a good price for a new one?

I just got one about 10 days ago for little biscuit in 308 Winchester. Best production trigger I have ever had. Crisp 3 lbs plus or so. Fired up a little under 1" @ 100 yards with federal ammo, 165 grain (or was it 168?) sierra gameking bullets. Groups stayed damn even as the barrel heated. 7# rifle with scope. A little too light for me, but it will be a Missouri deer hunter. Things I don't like about it...modernish looking, synthetic trigger guard; tail end on the bolt, I think, is synthetic material. I don't like detachable clips in hunting rifles ($55 for a spare!) but many people do, and they sell. Don't know what to tell you about competitive prices. I would recommend it for the money.

My exact sentiments and the multiple piece bolt looks unusal..looked at one yesterday in 270 . I may buy over the 1A ruger I was looking at . You hear very few complaints about Tikka's that is for sure. It was 445 dollars with scope rings. I will really get sick if I have to pay 55 bucks for the magazine on it though. I can get a Stainless Steel "METAL" detachable magazine for my Sako 75 for about the same price. For 95% of the hunting I do it will be plenty of rifle.
