I just started using the German #4 about 6 months ago. After a short adjustment period I have grown to really like it. Not extremely different from the plex, you still have the fine cross in the center but with the advantage of slightly heavier outer posts. My opinion I would stay away from reticles that are too "busy" usually labeled as tatical (not really, you would go cross eyed trying to sight in on some of those things) As for the mil dot, very few people actually know how to use the system and even if you do know how it takes an extensive ammount of practice to become proficient enough to use it accurately. The #4 seems to naturally draw your eye to the center and doesn't look like something you would find in a science fiction movie.
