Of all the ones you mentioned, I'd vote for the Remington first then Ruger. However, it's a personal choice based on fit / feel / comfort. The Howa is also a good choice... as a matter of fact, they make the Weatherby Vanguard. Others to check out are Tikka, Kimber and Winchester Model 70. For the absolute best production rifle (IMO) check out Sako. Good luck.

The Tikka WhiteTail Hunter in 30-06 was the most accurate 30-06 rifle that I have ever fired and I have been privileged to have fired a fair number of 30-06 rifles. The plastic stock was nearly indestructable, as are most of those and the matte black barrel reflected no light. The weight is right and the detachable box mag was handy.

Tikka, Savage, Howa, Remington, Winchester, and then Ruger. And in that order, based on accuracy, not good looks or price. If you want good looks, go with a Weatherby. If you want an accurate, dependable, working gun, that shoots great out of the box then buy a Tikka or Savage.

You will LOVE the Tikka. They have the SAME barrels as Sako from the same assembly line. You will be SHOCKED when you discover how smooth the trigger is! It is absolutely the BEST trigger on a factory rifle I have EVER used! I also like how full the pistol grip stock feels, it really fills the hands well. I helped a friend sight in his Tikka Whitetail Hunter before last season. He'd never heard of Tikka, and was wondering if he'd been ripped off. Needless to say, when I gave him some history, and we had that rig shooting 1/2 inch groups, he felt like he'd won the lottery! He used it to take a BIG Mule Deer buck on his family's ranch. Every time I see him, he loves to revisit the day we sighted in his '06 Tikka.
