GO TO THE AMMO MANUFACTURES HOME PAGE AND LOOK AT THIER BALLISTIC CHARTS.FEDERAL AMMUNITION, REMINGTON, HORNDY AND WINCHESTER ALL HAVE THIS.MOST ARE AT 50 YRDS AT A TIME IN THE SHORT RANGE AREA.

Hurry up and wait.

Bruce the ballistic chart are great as a place to start but that don't mean that your gun will shoot the same . You could use all the same components they used and it could still shoot different .Its only meant as a reference and says what they did with thier test rifle . Take your gun to the range and try it on a chronograph to see what it is doing as to fps, then use the ballistic charts .

The only way to know the point of impact for a given rifle, using a given load, at a given distance is to go out and shoot it. Tables are fine for initial guestimation, but aren't worth a darn for actual fine tuning. Ammo is cheap, burn it.

Pretty much, "short ranging" is a bunch of crap. For ideal conditions, and exact loads with 8000 other variables in a constant state. In many instances, those charts are not even tested, simply calculated. I used to believe in them, but after papering at recommended distances, and missing by up to 7" at 100 yrds, I decided they weren't really correct. Most of the time, those printouts are listed for a certain bullet weight at a certain muzzle velocity. Like all rifles are created equal, riiiiiiiiight. They sometimes account for barrel length, but rarely, and I've never seen one have a ballistic coefficient calculation (other than a handloading "expected trajectory" chart), and I've absolutely NEVER seen one with a twist rate calculation. You can not assume to tell me that a 150 round nosed-flat based bullet coming out of a 22" barrel with a 1 in 16" twist is going to fly the same as a 150 gr spitzer-boattail coming out of a 28" barrel with a 1 in 8" twist, it just isn't going to happen. Heck, the same twist rate in the same barrel length but with opposite rotation will fly differently. Additionally, how can you be sure that you are actually getting the predicted muzzle velocity? What about elevation, internal pressures are higher at higher altitudes, never seen one list that either. I'll admit that a guy can use those charts to get papered to at least be sure they'll be on the paper at 100 yrds, but boresighting would do you that good.

All that said, find a 100 yrd range, zero at 100, then practice shooting it at any distance you would forseeably take a shot at, say everywhere from 25-300, figure out for yourself where your bullet's going to hit and build your own trajectory chart.

Screw the 10 ring, keep them in the zero!!!

Nomercy,
The charts were for him to get a ball park start. My 1st post was a starting point as well, I never ment to start any arguments over this.It was a simple question, and needed a simple answer. Yes zero in at 100, and shot at the ranges you are expecting to shot, and add some LOOOOOOONNNNNNNGGGGGG shots too. Didn't mean to confuss and complicate this.

Hurry up and wait.

Federal's chart says-----.2" high at 50 yards
dead-on at 100 yards
3.6" low at 200 yards
Hope that helps. But try a couple shells at 50,100,& 200 yards if your range goes out to 200 yards. Good luck !!
