1Shot..you know I picked one of them up the other day in a gunshop and was really impressed by the handling. I just don't know a whole lot about Franchi's in general. They offer a 12.5 pull and a 24" barrel on one model and that would be ideal. Thanks

I've got a 20 ga. Montefeltro and my buddy has a 48al Deluxe w/ the English stock...both are sweet swinging little guns that you can shoot all day.

Price wise the Franchi is the more economical of the two, a basic 48al will cost somewhere in the 600's.

The only possible drawback of the 48al is that it only shoots 2 3/4" shells.

The main thing I don't like about my Monte is its lack of a raised rib. If I had it to do over I would have bought the synthetic M1 Field in 20 ga. it's raised rib makes for easier sighting for tall people.

Don't be afraid of a Franchi 620. It's gas operated for less recoil and shoots both 2 3/4 and 3" shells. Also it can probably be had a little cheaper than the other two depending on where you're at.

The Franchi's are very reliable and well made. They have been in the US since the 50's. Their fit and finish may not be quite as good as the "B" guns on the wood/blue models. Quality wise they are just slightly less but close. In case you don't know. Franchi is owned by Beretta and imported by Benelli (also Beretta owned). People who own Franchi's are usally very pleased with their choice. I know I have been with both my AL 48 and 612. I like Browning the best when comes to semi auto shotguns , but these Franchi's have been impressive.

Has anyone used the AL 48 to hunt deer with. Or used the 2 3/4 20 guage buck shot to hunt deer. I've read where the slugs have a good reputation. But was wondering if the buck shot is any good also. I bought one to shoot skeet with but would like to use it to go deer hunting with also. As the AL 48 only chambers 2 3/4 I would like to hear if any one has used this ammo in buck shot to hunt deer with. I'v used 3 inch 20 guage buck shot with good results,out of A Rem. youth 20 guage. Got an 8 pointer three weeks ago with one.

Having said that I just got a brand new Remington 11-87 Premier 20 ga. w/ a 26 inch vent rib barrel and weighs 6 3/4 lbs.. I love this shotgun. Its the only autoloading shotgun I own, but I'm goint to get the same thing in 12 ga. w/ a 28 inch barrel as soon as I can.

I have had no problems with the remigton 1100 20 ga. i started out with that gun when i started..was very light never had any problems...only thing i could think of was a small pebble(i dont know how teh hell this happened) was stuck inside the trigger mechanism on my very first opening day for pheasnt...two birds got up went to pull the trigegr and nothing...was my fault for not finding it...besides that no problems is a great gun...11-87 premier in 12 ga i ahve had no porblems with either...

I've had the chance to take my AL 48 out skeet shooting. It is a very fast smooth shotgun. Im going to injoy hunting and shooting skeet for years to come with it. Its also easy on the shoulder and the wallet to boot. The intial shock was pretty hefty but it will be cheaper to shot in the long run than the 12.

I don't know if it's the "best" autoloader, but I sure love my Remington 1100 LT-20.
