The little woman just told me I could get a new shotgun.
I have been looking for a couple of months before this.
Rem. 870 express is ok but a little more than I want to spend.
What to our local shop today and found a mossberg 500 crown model 12ga. 2 barrels,3 chokes
one vent rib,one rifled w/1in 36 twist.
Both of these barrels are the new style ported about 6" back.
I was just wondering if any body has or has had bad luck with any of mossberg shotguns.I was told I could buy it all for $325.00 + tax.

Mossberg shotguns are good guns. I have a model 500 in .410 that I use for rabbits. I'm not familiar with their slug barrels, though.

If that model has the plastic safety button make replacing it with the aftermarket metal button the first thing you do with the gun. That's about the only complaint I've heard on Mossberg.

I have a model 500 that I cut the barrel down to 20", and had it tapped for choke tubes. Sweet little grouse gun. The only problem I have is that even though it is rated for 3" shells, it always jams trying to eject 3" empties. So, we just use it for grouse... no turkeys!

Best shotgun value on the market.

i have a model 500a and it has never jammed. i like it, but i have a question. I has a 20inch barrel with a 8 shot mag. Can i get a longer barrel for it and keep the 8 round mag, or would i have to get a differnt mag?
