CANADA LIBERALS SCRAP FEES IN FEDERAL GUN REGISTRY
#1
It's not true,
I heard it on the local cjbq 800 am news this morning. The federal Canadian Liberal Goverment is scrapping the 2 billion dollar federal gun registry.
Thanks Swamp buck; I should have checked some other sources. It appears they are just scrapping the fees. I guess it was to good to be true that they were scrapping the whole thing. We can only hope for that, but I'll take the "no fees" for now.

"The Liberals announced an end to fees for registering guns and transferring their ownership, though the change won't be retroactive.
And contrary to some reports, it will still be a criminal offence not to register your gun.
The package will also include stronger measures to help law enforcement agencies deal with gun crime and smuggling. Criminal Code penalties for possession of loaded handguns in public places will be beefed up"

What a load of crap? Just bought two long guns last week, won't see that $50 again.
It is good to see their going to do something constructive by dealing with the real issue... Criminals! Imagine that it took 2 Billion dollars to determine its the criminals with unregistered firearms that are the problem.
Just venting..........

All Canadians who feel that they have been duped & penalized over the fact that they were charged fees in view of Anne mcLellan's announcement on cancelling registration fees should send in a copy of this letter to the Deputy Prime Minister, their own MP and their friends. gg.
Date and Return Address
Hon. Anne McLellan MP
Deputy Prime Minister of Canada
12304 - 107 Avenue
Edmonton, Alberta, T5M 1Z1
Dear Ms. McLellan,
On May 19th. you announced that the $25.00 fee to transfer or register a
firearm is discontinued.
This means that effectively, you are rewarding persons who now may
comply with the legislation, while persons who obeyed the law are
penalized for having done so.
There is an obvious inequity in this move.
Under our Charter of Rights and Freedoms, 15. (1) Every individual is
equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal
protection and equal benefit of the law without discrimination and,
in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or
ethnic origin, colour, religion, sex, age or mental or physical
disability.
Therefore, in order to ensure my Charter Rights, to be treated
equally under the law, I am asking that the Government of Canada
refund all fees for registration and transfer of firearms that I have
paid.
I await your earliest response to this matter.
Sincerely,
