RE: howa?
I don't own one, but I've sold them, along with Remingtons, Brownings, Tikkas, Marlins, etc.
They are excellent guns. If you haven't seen other posts yet, Howa makes the Vanguard for Weatherby. It's an excellent rifle, accuracy as good as most others, and I've never heard of any problems mechanically with them. For the money, you can't do much better. We were selling the synthetic/blued version for 359.00 and the stainless/synthetic for 399.00. That was a little over a year ago.

I own a How 1500 varminter supreme, .223. The action cycles smoother than any Remington or Winchester varming rig I've handled. The gun is more accurate than I'll ever be, but I keep trying. BB's built a custom gun off a Howa action. Looked really cool, I don't think he's given us a range report yet though.

No range report yet. I am waiting on the tax return (yes I procrastinated[8D]) for a Leupold VX-III. It's really hard not being able to shoot it yet.
I only got two rounds through it in the test booth as of right now.[&:]

RE: howa?
Howas have been around for quite awhile. In addition to the aforementioned Weatherby connection, and before they went with just Howa's name on it, they were made with the Mossberg name for at least a couple years (I think in the mid to late 80's), and before that they were stamped with the Smith & Wesson name for a number of years.
