icthru, I used to clean a rifle that way mayself a long time ago. Alot of my rifles started shooting bad over years of use, basically siting in my gun every year and taking hunting. I thought the bad groups was just age of the rifle. A gunsmith put some sweets thru it, and showed me all the copper I built up in the barrel. From then on out, I have not had any group problems with these older rilfes.
I found out Hopps will clean out some carbon fouling but really don't touch the copper. I mean if it works for you, by all means who am i to tell ya different, but if you start seeing group size go down, might want to check out the copper fouling.
