I'm a single shot kinda guy. Nothing against bolt actions I just love the look and feel of single shots. I have several different kinds from the Ruger #1 to the Sharps 45-70.
Its my passion and wanted to hear from others who have the same passion.
What's your gun, caliber, and make? And do you use the gun for competition, plinking, or hunting?
I'll list one for now I shoot the most shells through my Ruger #1 300 win mag. I hunt with it and shoot off hand long range competitions. Absolutey the best shooting rifle I've ever used. What's yours?

I have never shot another single shot rifle except my T/C Encore. It is a 30.06 and I use it for deer season. Actually, I have not shot it yet, just the 209x50 Magnum muzzle loader so far. I will sight in the scope and find the best rounds for it this summer when I set it up.

I'm more of an economical kind of guy, I do love single shots but I go with the H&R's and NEF's, because they're just as accurate as anything and still affordable, I've got a .50 cal Huntsman, an NEF in .30-06, an NEF with a 223, .270, and .450 barrel, an H&R in 25-06 and an NEF 20ga. I use all the rifles for hunting and target shooting and that shot gun for hunting and clays

Over the years I have had quite a mix of single shots. A Sharps 50 cal& 45-70. Ruger No l in 416 Rem Mag. A no 3 Ruger in 45-70. A Contender Carbine in 223 and 44 Mag. and Nef's in 223. 243 30-30 30-06, 44 Mag and 280 Remington. Also more single shot shotguns than I can remember in all GA's. I have used the Black Powder models for compitition. The rest I use for hunting. My favorite right now is the 26 inch barreled NEF 280. I would take that rifle with the Swift scope on it anywhere in North America for any game anytime.

My single-shots are all T/C Contenders/Encores. Long barrels are 209X45 bp, 12ga Turkey barrel and .308. Pistol barrels range from 22 Match up to 450 Marlin. Weather permitting, I shoot the 22match just about every weekend and try to shoot the big bores(45-70,450) every chance I get.

Contenders. At the moment the only long (?) bbl I have is a 20" 30-30 in 14 inchers, 17HMR, 25-3030, 38-55, 12 inchers, 17K Hornet, 10" 44 mag.
I'm pretty much a paper puncher anymore and like handloading and shooting diffrent calibers, the Contender seemed to be the way to go as bbls are a lot cheaper than complete guns and less hassle to aquire.
I do have plans on getting one of those NEFs in 223 tho as I've heard nothing but good about them.

About a month ago I got a NEF sportsman in 17HMR. So far I have been quite impressed. I also have a Contender with a 22lr, 357mag and 30-30 barrels. I took a doe with the 30-30 barrel and a few varmits with the 22lr. I still have the rifle that I learned to shoot with a Winchester single shot botl action, it still takes a few rabbits ever now and then.

Another NEF/H&R fan here. I own a H&R Ultra in .308 that is used for hunting. One year afield, one shot, one deer (a nice 8-point). I will be adding new barrels in the near future. Like others here, the first will probably be a .223. Then I'll start working on building up a nice supply of barrels and complete outfits for when my sons get old enough to hunt. Of course, I'll have to shoot all of them to make sure they are good enough
