I have a chance to pick up a Weatherby Vanguard VGX .270 with a Burris Fullfield 4x scope on it for a good price. The VGX is the top of the Vanguard line. It has a beautiful Monte Carlo two-tone wood stock on it, has a perfect balance, comes up the the should smoothly, has a Burris Fullfield 4x scope, and just feels natural or right in my hands.
I was wondering if anyone has shot one fo these before or not. This is not the cheap Vanguard that you get at Walmart either. There are actually three different rifles in teh Vanguard line and the VGX is the top of the line.
I'm just looking for opinions on this rifle before I make up my mind.

And, yes I know it was made in Japan by either Tikka or Howa. That does not discourage me at all. Brownings are made in Japan and are fine rifles too!

The vanguards are the only weatherby rifles that I would own. They are good quality at a very reasonable price.

I own a Weatherby Vanguard VGX in a 30-06. It is a beautiful gun. Talked to several respected gunsmiths in my area and they all agree that the Vanguard has better quality material in it than a Mark V (not my words). If its at a reasonble price I would buy it. I don't know that you can still even get the VGX line any more, but it is backed by Weatherby. Good Luck, Larry
