Stopped by the store last night to pick up a recoil pad for my son......Saw a Vanguard marked way down. Don't see deals like that often. Ran it by the wife. She signed off on it....gave some resistance based on me always buying stuff for myself and never leaving anything for people to buy me as gifts. She doesn't understand that when you get a chance to save $150 on a new rifle you have to move fast. I figure with 2 boys coming up it should get plenty of use over the next 15 + years.
Now I have to figure what kind of glass to put on it. This is whitetail country.

good going on the deal. My wife has the same complaint as yours I just tell her wrap it for what ever the gift is supposed to be for and I'll act surprised. She's never taken me up on it but I tried.

She's in the trunk of the car right now. $225. I just couldn't pass that up. God bless the wife for not giving me a hard time. Bought it at Wal-Mart. Service was great and again.....the price is awesome. It'll sit in the cabinet till this summer when I get it scoped at a local shop. hmmm.....should I go 3-9 or 4-12? Nikon, Bushnell, or Leupold?

Last weekend I saw a Weatherby Vanguard in .30-06 for $250 at the Wal-Mart in Mineral Wells, Texas.
I would've snapped it up, but I'm left-handed and it's a right-handed rifle.
Still, someone's going to get a great deal--if they haven't already.
