Whats wrong with the 22hornet

I have been really considering a 22 hornet lately for a toy. I was reading I believe "rifle" mag, and John barshness, said something like "my 22hornet can shoot decent, and you know how hard they can be to get shooting well". Maybe not John but the article about the 22LR vs. the 17cal. Either way, it was a negitive statement about them.
Does anyone have a 22hornet. How does it shoot?

I think it mostly has to do with the ammo availability, ammo and gun price, and the power level of the cartridge. The rifles and ammo cost a goodly bit more than 22cal rimfire rifles, if they aren't on par with the 22CF hypervelocity rifles, and ammo availability in most places is pretty small in variety-it usually costs almost as much or as much as .22-250, .220swift, or .223 ammo, when it's simply not nearly as powerful...so basically you can buy a hornet or a .22-250 and it's ammo for the same price, but with the hornet you get a lot less power/range compared to the others.
I had one, and loved it, but I love my Savage .22-250 a lot more now-that's what I traded it towards, and I've never regretted it.

I used to have a BRNO with set triggers. It was a great shooting gun and as I reload incredibly cheap to shoot. Because of the rate of twist I could not shoot anything over a 45 grain slug in my rifle, and as I really prefer the 52 gr round I ended up trading it. In hindsight I should have rebarrelled. I would get another hornet, or try an improved model if another good deal ever comes my way. If you enjoy shooting you owe it to your self to try one of these great rifles out.

Price wise though I am almost positive that 22 hornets are cheaper than a
22-250. There is a older gentleman that hunts with us and uses nothing but a 22 hornet for whitetail. Neck shots only though.

my dad has ruger 77/22 hornet that i reload for and it shoots as well as anyone could expect out of a factory rifle. and yes they will kill deer with a good neck shot.
MTAIR what do you load in your hornet?
you might also check out the 19 calhoon which is based on the hornet but shoots like a 223 almost exactly. i wish i could remember the website. but i cant
