8mm Mauser questions
#1
Went shooting my mauser again today. It is a VZ24. It has the sights that only allow to go down to 300 meters. Is there a way to shoot at closer ranges without having to hold a foot low to hit the target? I didn't even hit the target today, but I know I was going high because low would have hit in the snow in front of the target. Any sollutions?
Also, I will begin reloading this cartridge. I currently have Win 748 and Imr 4350. Which of these two powders have worked best for you guys with 175 Sierras or any other bullet?
Any comments would be great! Thanks guys.

lay a .05 bead on top of the front sight with a tig torch and refile it to shape
It may be a little drastic but it's a workable solution.
You might also be able to epoxy a little steel to the front sight to build it up....the tig torch is the best way however.
I'd use the Win 748 powder over the IMR 4350 however....it performs better.
