Anyone happy with a cheap scope?

Cheap? You wanna know cheap? Try a Tasco 3-7x20 rimfire scope that I put on my old Marlin .22LR rilfe. [:'(] I think the thing was like $12.95 at Wal-Mart or something like that.
I used it a few times at the outdoor range at the local WMA when plinking targets with my 17yr old twin daughters. After about round of 14 shots (tube fed Marlin Model 60 .22), the scope shifted back in those grooves on the receiver. I slid it back in place, cranked down on the screws with a Phillips screwdriver, and took some more shots. Same thing again... [:@] Then one of my daughters said that using a scope on a .22 is "cheating"!! And this is the same daughter who, er, well, um, actually out-shot me on the range!
[:-] Nevertheless, we took of the cheap Tasco scope and now use open sights on the Marlin.

I have had a bunch of low cost Bushnells about 20 or so. NEVER had any kind of a problem with any of them. I have had as many Tasco scopes. Never a problem of any kind with any of them. These scopes have been used hard and have been on hard recoiling rifles. As someone else mentioned The Swift scopes at about 100 dollars are very good reliable scopes. I have a couple of Taso Prog Horn 4X scopes that have several years of service on them now. No Problem. They were 19.00 dollars when I got them. They are about 30 now. I have Luepolds as well as OLD Redfields. Have not used the new Redfields but on looking at them they are about the clearest scope I have seen.

Used is a good option look for a redfield or leupold, I have seen some great prices on M6's used on ebay before they are an excellent scope(fixed). I still have one and it has never had a problem.
I have heard good things about swift but no personal experience. I will say Bushnell seem to deliver a reasonable scope I use the elite series and have been always happy, I would consider them to be mid range but an affordable quality scopes-however they may be higher than what you want to spend. I know many who use the trophy series by bushnell and a couple guys who bought the new legend by bushnell, no real complaints I have heard of either yet.
IMO your better to save and buy something that will last, then just buy another cheap scope that you'll replace soon. If your scope now is functioning fine but you just want a bit better, than save up and buy one you'll really enjoy later.
Good Luck!

I really appreciate the recomendations. The simmons I have on there now keeps a solid poi and I have been able to produce 1-1.5 inch groups at 100 yards. That is acceptable to my needs but the eye relief is poor. I can't tell you how many times I have bashed myself in the forehead when I pull the trigger. fortunately it hits me in right on the eyebrow so the bruising doesn't show, only the lump.
I think it's pretty clear, it doesn't fog in the rain and it is functional. I just wanted something that was easier to pick up my target in and wouldn't smack my head. I went ahead and orderd a guide gear scope from Sportsman's guide. If I don't like it's performance it will be going back and I will use the money toward a higher end scope. But I will definately let everyone know what I think of it.
