That' s a pretty broad question. Tell us what you plan on hunting, where you plan on hunting, what the terrain is like, so on and so on.

If you are talking all short Mags. My pick would be the 270wsm. The 7MM and 270 versions would serve pretty much the same tasks with pretty equal performance. The 300 of course would give you more bullet weight range and more ME. One down side I have heard about the 7MM SM is that you must seat the bullets pretty deep and therefore loose powder space. The 270 SM kind of fills a nich that only the 270 Weatherby Mag fills. They are hard to find and expesive to buy and shoot. You would also be well served by the 270 Winchester. I don' t know what you plan to hunt. The mags are really not my cup of tea.

I HAVE A 270WSM AND I LOVE IT BUT THE REAL QUESTION IS WHAT YOU PLAN ON HUNTING . I DO AGREE THAT THE 270 WILL DO ANYTHING THAT THE 7MM WILL DO . UNLESS YOU RELOAD YOUR OWN.

If you are hunting North American big game, the .270 WSM is all you will ever need. It is perfect for all of our hooved game animals (African plains game, too).

Some people might say that it isn' t enough for the big bears...and I would agree. However, neither is a .300 WSM, so save your shoulder and hunt deer, pronghorn, caribou, sheep, goats, elk and/or moose with the .270 WSM.

What kind of performance are you looking for, i.e. what do you want to do with it? For deer and other medium game I like the 270. For Elk I like the 300 WSM, although I' m not very recoil sensitive and don' t believe that you can be " overgunned" . I chose the 300 because it fit well in my hunting needs, one of the others might be better for you.

RUSTY THE 7MM AND THE 300 ARE VERY CLOSE TO THE LONG ACTION BUT THE 270 HAS ENOUGH DIFFENCE THAT ITS WORTH LOOKING AT. YOU HAVE TO KNOW THAT THE FACTORY WILL INFLATE THEIR FIGURES BUT THERE IS SOME EXTRA PUNCH .MINE IS A BROWNING ABOLT AND IT SHOOTS VERY ACCURATE, I SHOOT 150 GR SUPER X WIN. AFTER I HAD MINE FOR 1 MONTH 3 OTHERS IN MY FAMILY PURCHASED ONE.

I always have preferred the 7mm bore over any 270 for larger game.
