Default 357 maximum

I inherited a TC contender in 357 maximum and would like to hunt deer with it. I have some factory loads with 158gr. bullets and some handloads with 178gr. was wondering if anyone has any ex. with this load and what the effective range is.

thanks, larry

I never hunted with mine but I shot steel silhouettes with one and it would topple the big steel rams with ease at 200 Meters. Be careful if you shoot any lead bullets in it. It velocity is such that you will spend many hours removing lead from the barrel.

thanks for the site and advise. I was wrong about the handloads they' re 170gr. not 178. was shooting it yesterday and the 170' s definetly have more kick. think I will hunt with it this year, keeping my shots to 50-60yrds. do you think I should limit them to broadside or quartering away shots also? any help would be appreciated.
