To mainehunt,

I' m not sure what you are asking me!

IF I WERE YELLING IT WOULD LOOK LIKE THIS, (ALL CAPS ARE CONSIDERED YELLING ON THE INTERNET)!

IF THERE IS SOMETHING THAT I MISSED....PLEASE FEEL FREE TO FILL ME IN!!!!

THE ONLY TIME I USED CAPS WAS TO EMPHASISE HE DIDN' T NEED PREMIUM AMMO FOR DEER HUNTING IF STANDARD AMMO SHOT FINE IN HIS GUN.

mainehunt ONCE AGAIN????????

P.S. bigbuck270, The only way to tell how either will perform in your rifle, is to give them both a try!

Exclamation marks (!) add volume to your writing. Capitalization adds emphasis.

I also thought you' d end an exclamation with an exclamation mark! Use caps at the beginning of sentences, proper nouns, names, etc. (though I did use them on my bullet comments as well). But I was NOT trying to shout! Sorry if you were offended. I will try to turn down the volume in all future correspondence...lol.

The issue here is Federal or not to Federal.

I have used quite a bit of Federal premium and also the cheap federal stuff. All has performed well for me. I like the Premium shells loaded with Nosler Partitions.

I' ve always preferred the cost of reloading....if the lowest cost (reloading) is too much, Federal is always a good alternative.

What your paying for is the quality bullet and the consistancy of the load. Try the Winchesters and see how it does in your gun. Once you get the scope sighted in then buy several different loads and see which your gun likes better. You don' t necessarily need the premium load. Depends on what your hunting though.

Winchester Supremes, or Federal Premiums are the best I have found in a factory load, I stay away from the Remingtons, I can' t even get their 22 shells to shoot worth a darn.

Is federal that much better? Will my groups be tighter with federal?
Your groups may be tighter with the Fed. Premium ammo, but not necessarily!! A rifle can even prefer one lot of the " exact same ammo" to another lot! You can only find this out by shooting a number of different brands in the bullet weight(s_ you may wish to use. And, when you DO find that " perfect match" of ammo to your gun, buy a case of it in the same lot number, so you don' t have to go through this same drill again too soon!! Stored in a cool dry place, metallic smokeless powder ammo will last for a lifetime.
