best all around choke improved,full,modified
just bought a remington 870 with 23 inch barrel that comes with a extra full turkey choke. Turkey hunting will be the main use of the gun but, I would like to buy one other choke that will be used for pheasant, rabbit, and some clay pigeon shooting every once in a while for practice. What does everyone think would be the best, improved, modified,or full. thanks for any responses

Greets,
Let me first qualify this by admitting I am a novice shotgunner, and have only been shooting them for a couple years.
That said, I use my gun with a stock modified choke, only time I take it out is for turkey hunting, for that I was told to use full choke, and therefore do.
Just my uneducated opinion!

Quilly's right...it depends on what you're hunting. I shoot a 410 for rabbits, and anything other than a full is useless.
For a 12...I like full for squirrels...a mod for rabbits and pheasants. For clay pigeons, I like a choke that sprays em about 12 feet wide...<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

i would have to say the modified, i use it for ducks, geese, sometimes quail, sometimes clay birds, adn i use if for dove and such. there is more things to hunt with the mod.

hmmm id say modified if you only wanna buy one...tho at close ranges hitting a fast fast moving animal or clay will be challenging..tho not impossible..i shot clay rabbits with a mod and 6 shot!! lol thats a reason i am good at being on target i think..and i shot my first clays with a full choke and 6 shot! it was hard at first...like always when jsut starting...but i got so good they were completly gone...now i kno about shotguns ect and kno y! lol if you go with modified...make sure u use the rite shot size for your game..
