Hey i am shopping around for a slug gun. i want to stick with remington. I was looking at the rem 870 superslugger. that is a 870 synthetic with the cantilever scope mount built in on it. my question is, is that gun worth the extra money or should i just get a regular 870 synthetic. the super sluger is 500 and the regular 870 express sytnthetic is like 300. i thought the cantilever scope mount would be better because i could buy another barrel and be able to not worry about the scope being in the way. thanks

Can' t go wrong with Remington Pump guns. I am not sure about that mount, I don' t have any experience with it. But, I have a synthetic 870 smoothbore and I would have to say that whatever way you go, if you want to convert either one you will probably spend the same amount of money. So, flip a coin.

I think you should go with the S.S. that scope mount is solid as a rock. Changing the barrel is easy. You can pick another barrel, for less that 200 bucks. I have a 870 with a smooth barrel and it was good for me for years. The old Remington Sluggers shot well thought it.
