I dunno....I think a pump 12ga with 3" slugs is about the worst thing I' ve ever shot. I' ve shot some pretty big guns (never a .50 BMG) and those slugs kicked the crap outta me! I' m shooting a .300 Win Mag with 200 grain Partitions for elk this year and they are no problem for me.

The kickingest gun I have personally owned is my Stevens 10ga single shot. 36" barrell, full choke. Shooting 3.5" mags through that thing is not pleasant to say the least. Talk about coming straight back, right now. I don' t do it very often.

I have a Rem 600 in .308 that' ll flat turn you around. The gun is well under 5 pounds...

They made that same gun in .350 years back. I couldn' t even imagine.

I was at the range one day when a guy accidentaly shot the ramrod out of his muzzleloader. He was a fairly big guy, and although he didn' t cry, the recoil made his eyes water.
I have shot mine many, many times since 1982, and I still don' t know how he managed to leave the ramrod in his barrel.

I second the .450 Marlin and the ported barrel is deafening, too. But it hits like a ton of bricks!!!
