i tried those home blueing kits and they are not that good . you have to repeat the process several times to get a o.k. job and if you have any heavy spots of rust you will never get a pro finish. the chemical from what i understand is poisonous so you have to be careful and wear gloves. i learned this the hard way with a lot of wasted time and energy. if you want a nice deep black finish you have to get your barrel hot blued. the last gun i had done it cost me around 100$ but it looks brand new. just my experience but unless there are other options i never heard of a good one.

Maybe try Birchwood Casey, they make rust remover and gun blue. The bottle says for touchup or complete gun bluing. I' ve used it for touch up and was surprised at the result. Like someone said may need a couple coats. And if you don' t like the results you can always have it hot blued. Good Luck

I used the Birchwood and Casey kit a long tiime ago. I bought a beat up stevens .410 at a yard sale for a project gun. When I finished I traded it and was allowed high book. Take your time and follow the instructions to the letter and good results can be had. It' s like wood work the final finish is a result of preperation If you didn' t dand it smooth to start no amouont of varnish will cover it up. Preperation, preperation, preperation good luck
