Would you recommend going for the 25-06? It should be pretty fast with little kick with 120s and it would be fine for a kid to learn on with 100 grain bullets I think. I could always get a 30-06 or 270 barrel later, they are pretty cheap..

If you are against the 243 then I would go with the 25-06. Get them shooting paper with an 85 grain varmint load then as they get better, progress up to a hunting load.

Ok. I always wanted to try a 25-06 myself so it should be fun.. Wonder why it has a 26 inch barrel? Seems way overkill.

Small bore and slow burning powder needs plenty of tube. Otherwise you are blowing powder downrange
