which semi-auto rifle to choose
#21
as already mentioned,it depends on what you are going to do with it.i shot many deer with the rem 742 and it was great for hunting in the woods and shots out to 150-200 yds.it did jam as mentioned.the factor that caused me to go strictly to my bolt actions was sighting both in at 200 yds then shooting them at 300 and seeing the unbelieveable bullet drop difference between the two.i hunt pipelines and have no need for an auto anymore.if i did,i would buy a BAR.

alot of guys i hunt with, mostly older guys, use the 7400' s and 742' s and have used them for years. And i have seen them jam way too many times, and seen the same guy come back the next morning with his 700. They are handy and it would be nice to have that quick second shot but not worth all the trouble. My one friend still hasnt got his back from remington, it broke right after he bought it. I have only seen one of the BAR' s it was nice, expensive and heavy but very nice. It was a 300 mag with the B.O.S.S system.
