I think you are making a good solid all-around choice. I like Remington model-700' s & I like the 270. You will have a great deer & antelope rifle.

First off I' m a model 70 fan....that said I have no quarrel with the Remington 700.....but the BDL has way too much stock flash/polish.....it' s far too shiny and the white spacers are thirty years out of date!!!!

I own a Remington Classic.....great gun....(it' s .375 H&H) I' d take the classic over the BDL anyday.

I recently got a BDL in .300 Mag. I' m very happy.

Personally I think the glossy stock and white spacers is very classic. It kind of takes you back to a time when rifles were a source of pride as much as they were a tool.

$500 is a good price. They go for a bit more where I live.

I have a couple of BDLs and like them a lot. I have a Browning SS Stalker 270 and it is a great gun. Previously had a 700 BDl 270 and it was fine but wanted a Detachable Mag. The browning had the DM and it fit me well, so I traded in the rem. for it some years ago, haven' t been dissappointed. I suggest taking a look at the browning abolts and the 700 BDl in a 270, just so you can compare. Either way I think good cartridge and gun choice. BTW, I now use a 700 BDL Custom DM in 7 Rem Mag and love it...so I am back to toting a 700

500 seems fair!

Thx for the replies all. This rifle comes w/ the sights, but I think I can take them off. I remember I asked if they could order one w/o sights, but the guy said I can take them off. Can anyone verify this?

I will look into the Browning ABolts. Those are nice rifles and is prolly my 2nd choice right now. Another option it the Winchester version, but I like the way the 700 feels and it fits me well. i dont mind the white spacers. TBH - i never paid much attn. to them anyway.

coolbrze0..

ever try working the bolt and shoulder one of these babies? give them a try before you go for the remington. you can get a plain jane browning hunter for less or $50.00 more than the remington.
take a look you will instantly go for one. i was a remintgon fan but no more after my brownings.
