Remington knew of this condition and could have fixed it many years ago. The designer of the trigger himself warned Remington of a possible unsafe condition. He even proposed a change to the design but for whatever reason it was never adopted.

I agree that 1%(actually probably less than 1%) is pretty good odds, unless you are one of the unlucky 1%.
