RE: Another Remington Junk Report
In these modern times Remington is adding a new challange to hunting. What a rush, think of it,???? The cape buff or Grizz comes at you, you raise your rifle, take aim, (If you are not using a semi) kick the safety off and go for the trigger, will it fire and hit where you want??? what a challange!!!!!! Not for me, no thanks!!!!!!

RE: Another Remington Junk Report
I have had about 25 Remmington rifles. I have never had a problem with a 700 old or new. I did have the bolt handle come out of a couple of 788 ifles. I have a new 700 ADL 22-250 and a new 700 ADL 257 Roberts. They are flawless. I have had three Rem pumps and all worked very well and were very accuarate. I have had Rem pump 22 rifles that worked well and the first gun I ever bought myself was a Rem Nylon 66 that was the only 22 I ever had that worked as well and as long as the 10-22 which can,t be beat at any price. Ruger centerfire rifles just don,t seem to fit me. I have tried them again and again. SLOW LEARNER.

RE: Another Remington Junk Report
Just bought my first remington ever. (Have been a Sako fan.)
Model 700 Titanium in 7mm S.A.U.M. Anyone else shoot one of these, I'd be interested to know it's foibles, best loads, any adjustments needed, what you scoped it with etc. Cheers NB: haven't fired it yet. Looking forward to it. |

RE: Another Remington Junk Report
I had a 597- was the last Remington I'll probably ever own. If I want another big game rifle, I'll by a CZ or Sako. For shotguns, I'll buy a Browning or Ruger.
The 710- what a joke. Remington used to make a nice little entry level rifle called the 788. It was a plug ugly rifle that was affordable but really performed well, in fact it was a better performer than their 700 series rifles for the short cartridges it was chambered in. Remington dropped the rifle and no longer makes it. Now they make a turd called the 710 which is far uglier than the 788, and has almost no redeeming qualities to it, other than it comes in a package with a cheapo scope [:@] I'm betting that in 20 years the 710 won't be highly sought after like the 788's are today. Once again, I don't need a bargain rifle, but I hate for beginning shooters with little expendable cash to buy a piece of crap that will give them nothing but problems. 870- I've heard reports about the made-in-china slide rails breaking. 870's have had the reputation of being unbreakable shotguns, seems like no reputaion is untouchable at the new Remington.:( Remington 700's- I have a 700 ADl made in the late 60's/early 70's that I get alot of comments on when I take it to the range. It has nicely figured wood, and a nice finish on it. I'm often asked if its a custom rifle, and I just have to sigh and reply "nope, this is a lowly Remington ADL- this is how they made rifles 30 years ago" |
RE: Another Remington Junk Report
I just want you folks to know that i am the ----------> ONLY <---------- person in America to own a 579 that has NEVER jammed!!! True story, my 597M has not jammed even one time since i bought it new a few years ago.
They may be junk?, but mine shoots very good, with an acceptable trigger and i'm happy with it!! I have more guns than any one human being ought to own, so i'm not just in love with this 597, it is all i've said it is! NO ONE has mentioned the TC 22 semi auto, how are those?????? I have a 10/22 but i just hate the way it sits in your hand like a "beached whale"!!!! BTW, when i want to shoot a quality 22 or 22 mag, i slide one of my "Krieghoff insert barrels" into the right shot bbl of my drilling and have target quality right then! Drilling Man |
RE: Another Remington Junk Report
Yep there is something to the old Remington 700's a very good friend bought a late 60's early 70's or so 700 chambered in 6mm rem. It will only shoot 1" groups at 200 yards with remington factory ammo. It sure looks and feels better then the new stuff although other then the ISS I won't complain about the new 700's.

RE: Another Remington Junk Report
big country, the real word is about making bad buying decisons.there are always lemons in everything.i hate the youngster had to be the victim.there iis no doubt that the ruger 10/22 is probably one of the most reliabie .22 autos around as are there others.i have read a lot of bad press on the rem 597 .22,but i have never owned one.i did however, get the 597 magnum model in .17 hmr.i have shot 150 rounds of the cci hp and 150 rounds of the hornady bt and had no malfunctions at all.as long as the clip is bumped into place each time it is loaded,it worked without a hitch and is very accurate.i may be sick later, but am very happy with mine.

RE: Another Remington Junk Report
I can't figure out why Remington is not keeping up on the quality. Funny how Savage is making great strides in improving the image. And Remington is giving up. I bet they still have about 3 years left before the image is tarnished enough for them to start back on the quality train. I can't understand why a company that has been known for it's quality would allow this.
