Actually, it is legal Clearanceman. I missread that in the WV rules also. That pertains to rimfire if your read it closely. I know lots of guys that use the 22-250. They are neck shooters. I never will understand that. Too much risk of a bad shot for me. But they always get thier animal.
but for pistols it reads:
Hunt bear, deer, or wild boar with a pistol using a straight-walled case of less than .357 magnum cartridge or a bottle-necked case of less than .24 caliber
but for pistols it reads:

Well let' s just ask some of the many deer I have shot with a 243 and see if they would rather have been shot with a 25-06. Oh that' s right, we can' t cause they are all dead. If you really want better with the same recoil then why not a 260 Rem, oh wait, maybe a 270 Win, better yet a 7mm-08, or maybe.....
