Actually, it is legal Clearanceman. I missread that in the WV rules also. That pertains to rimfire if your read it closely. I know lots of guys that use the 22-250. They are neck shooters. I never will understand that. Too much risk of a bad shot for me. But they always get thier animal.

but for pistols it reads:
Hunt bear, deer, or wild boar with a pistol using a straight-walled case of less than .357 magnum cartridge or a bottle-necked case of less than .24 caliber

Anyway, if weight doesn' t matter, why not use a .223?
Because it is just plain stupid.

24 cal is bigger than 22 cal. In other words, not legal.

That is suppose to read of NOT less than 24 caliber. And as far as points I think we forgot what the original point was.

That makes 223 illegal. The point was lighter is not always better. Too light is too light. I think 120 is better than 100 grains for deer.

Actually the original point is the 243 Win is perfectly capable of cleanly taking deer at practical ranges.

Yes, but my point was the 25-06 does it better with about the same recoil. I see no end to this discussion by the way, ha ha!!

Well let' s just ask some of the many deer I have shot with a 243 and see if they would rather have been shot with a 25-06. Oh that' s right, we can' t cause they are all dead. If you really want better with the same recoil then why not a 260 Rem, oh wait, maybe a 270 Win, better yet a 7mm-08, or maybe.....
