Get a auto loader(gas gun) if you are concerned about recoil.

270 is plenty big for most north american big game. i know of plenty of elk that have been shot with them. i am assuming that you will be using it for whitetail since you are from ohio so i would go with the 270.

7mm has enough nockdown power, so does the -06. 7mm will reach out and touch something with recoil comparable to the -06. 30-06 is cheaper to shoot ($20 or so ber box) while the hornady ammo i buy for my 7mag runs about $45
