I have an old Savage M99 that will put the bullets right on top of each other with a cheap old 4x32 Tasco on it. I usually pull it out of the cabinet every few years and shoot a doe or two with it, it was my great grandpa's rifle. I've been tossing around the idea of loading some 125gr Nosler BTs for it and stretching it's range a wee bit.

Update: Ended up going with the Rem. 760 in 300 savage. I think I will end up enjoying this caliber for Blacktail. Anyone know what a box of rounds goes for? Are the 150 or 180's more accurate for this gun? Is this gun sufficient on Black bear, elk or moose? Thanks for the feedback.

It is more than sufficient for black bear, elk and moose. Keep the shots under 200 yards and put it in the boiler room with a good bullet, and its game over.

You are going to have to experiment to see which rounds are more accurate. All guns act differently.
