BigJ's "Show & Tell" (Lever Guns)
#21
Thanks, guys... Yeah, I couldn't pass up that old Marlin 30AS rifle. It had a Glenfield 4x32 fixed scope on it and worked perfectly fine. But to me, it just didn't look right. So, I took it off and then picked up the little filler screws for the receiver top from a gun store.
Some guys put scopes on their lever guns, and that's fine. I just prefer having it with the plain open sights. I use it in the thick heavy brush, briars, and thickets, where I might only have a shot of 50, 60, 75 yards at max.
For longer ranges, I have my Savage 110 with a very nice Bushnell 3-9x40 scope on it. I have the scope set at 1" high at 100 yards. I figured I have to different rifles for two different types of terrain.
