A friend has a Rohm .22 long rifle pistol. It says RG24 on the grips. Now I've read a few things saying these aren't the best quality pistols and that they are fairly cheaply made and not really recommended due to the lack of quality. What I'm wondering is are these things safe to shoot and just take target shooting? If it fails to fire not like it will really matter or anything just want to make sure they are safe to shoot. Also is it safe to use the Winchester Xpert High Velocity rounds in this?

My father had one many years ago. the gun kinda has a muzzle shroud affair that runs down along the ejection rod, includes the front sight ?
If I recall it spit lead like shotgun, known for its 'minute of a barn' accuracy at any range beyond your extended fist.
It would give a Jennings 25 auto a run for its money on who can build the cheapest POS handgun on the planet.

They were considered by manythe cheapest of the cheap in "saturday night specials".[&o]
If it were me, I'd would pass on it and find something better to waste .22 shells with. You can look around and still find a good quality .22 revolver like a H&R 999 for $125-$150 and have something.

I would advise safety glasses and recommend no one stand beside the shooter. The gap between the cylinder and the barrel will spit lead straight out to the side. Never a good thing. The gun was designed to shoot 22lr ammo, it will do that...but consider I've already professed that it is the cheapest POS gun I have ever seen.

Personally if it were meI wouldn't shoot it period. If you insist on shooting it I suggest making sure it's still in time.If you're not sure how the timing worksask someone who knows.Even after making sure everything is still operating like it's supposed to Iwould not shoot the high velocity through it. I would stick with the Standard Velocity. In a 22LR revolver you can safely shoot the 22 longs and 22 shorts. The RG's are nothing but a pot metal revolver with very poor quality saying it mildly. I lived in S.FL years ago and know exactly where RG was located.Their quailty and workmanship was so poor even local gun shops would not carry RG's for liability reasons.Probably not what you wanted to hear.Like already suggested if you shoot it make sure you have safety glasses on and no one is standing to the side of you.

Not only would I refuse to even shoot it, assuming it was actually timed right, I refuse to even THINK about working on them. They're THAT bad. I know you don't want to believe us but they're JUNK!!!!!!! Don't shoot it at all.

its odd to hear bad things about rohm pistols, they make target air pistols now, i have one. it wont stand along side either of my walthers or my old webley but on most days i can outshoot my buds 38 special at 20 yards. well i guess they maybe were cheap at one time, so judging by the rest of the posts it might not be the best to shoot it but i can tell you that from my rohm experiance they shoot well
