Default Remington Rebate

I just got a remington rebate in the mail for $10. Anybody have any idea how I got it?

Sounds crazy but I don't recall.

Thanks

I got one from a Remington Genesis Muzzleloader but it was more than $10. I think the form had options to check for some kind of ammo and some other guns. Did you maybe buy some ammo? That sounds about right for that although I really don't know.

Did you sign up for one of the many ammo rebate deals that were going on last year? I know that all of the big-3 ammo makers (Rem, Win, Fed) had rebate deals on both CF rifle ammo and shotshells. I signed up for one through Federal for a couple boxes of Fusion ammo, but never got the rebate.

Not that I really expected it, anyway. I saw a piece on TV about rebate scams (it was an investigative journalism piece, I think). They basically said that rebate fraud is rampant, even among big and supposedly reputable companies, because the rebates are farmed out to clearinghouses so the company that offered it isn't saddled with administration of the program. So a company like Remington pays a clearinghouse say $11 per $10 rebate submitted. The clearinghouse then is supposed to forward $10 to the eligable person, but a lot of times they use the fine print to screw you out of your money. They'll hold the rebate form you sent in until just before the due date, bill the company, but hold the money claiming the rebate wasn't processed in time. They're also said to intentionally "lose" rebate documents (like proof-of-purchase), and by the time the consumer comes asking for their money, they can say that they didn't get the right documents and it's past the deadline. Or they just hold the money outright, knowing that most consumers are busy people that are likely to forget, like you did, that they even submitted a rebate. Even if the consumer did remember, it would likely take a great amount of time, and possibly legal action, to recover the rebate owed. For most rebates, most people wouldn't even bother. Rebates are a shady business, and unfortunately rebate fraud screws both the consumer (who's ticked they didn't get their money back), and the business (who's got a bunch of customers pi$$ed off at THEM, not the clearinghouse).

I'm racking my brain over here. Don't own anything made by Remington. That I know of. I bought a Marlin Guide gun last Feburary/March wonder if it has anything to do with that.

Yeah, I got my rebate for Remington Ammo ($10) but I haven't got the one for Fusion yet. I sent it in a month later than the Remington rebate, but wasn't expecting it anytime soon. Now I'm a little worried.

What kind of deals did you guys get on Fusion ammo? That's what my rifle likes but I've never gotten any with rebates and it's gotten expensive.

The deal I got was buy 2 boxes of Federal Fusion, get a $10 mail-in rebate. I'm not holding my breath that it'll ever show up, as it's been over 6 months.

I got my $35 rebate check yesterday (mailed 1/4/09)for the Genesis I purchased. I guess it will go into the general fund, as I already spent atleast $1500 this year getting myself geared up for bow, rifle and black powder season as this was my first year hunting.
