Thanks for the info, I do practice out to 300 with my 270 but i'm looking for a smaller caliber so that my daughter can use it as well, I'm at a point where i would enjoy her killing a deer a lot more than me killing one. I am trying to find how small i can and still have the dropping power because i'm not going to quit hunting just want something we both can share, don't have the money for 2 guns. It seems a 25-06 is still big enough and light enough for her to shoot.

Well from what I've read you don't need another rifle. The 270 will drop deer in there tracks at 350 yds and beyond. Been there done that. As for you not wanting your daughter feel the recoil, go to Walmart and pick up a limbsaver slip on recoil pad for her to use. Problem solved. Good luck.
