I have a marlin 336A 35 REM. The fireing pin does not hit the primer. I took the gun apart and cleaned everything I could. I shot the gun a few days ago, and everything was working fine. This is my only gun and we are in the middle of deer season......Please help!!!

I am confused....
It was working fine a few days ago, thenstopped working and then you took it apart to clean it?
Have you tried shooting it since you took it apart?
Or did it stop working when you took it apart?

I have had my Marlin since I was a teenager. I went a long time after I got that gun and never cleaned the bolt real good. The rest of the gun was cleaned like it should, but I just didn't think to clean the bolt. After a while, the dents on my primers starting getting more shallow to the point Igot amisfire. Once I cleaned the bolt everything was fine. Make sure your firing pin is good and loose inside the bolt. You would be suprised the dirt, grime, and dust that gets in that area.
If that is not your problem, I would say you have a mechanical problem that will have to be fixed.

The firing pin is redily available and you CAN install it yourself, but like the others suggested-take it to a qualified gunsmith-we stand behind their work because we do this for a living.

Remove the lever screw, and remove the bolt. Now push the firing pin striker shaft up so it touches the rear end of the firing pin, and pust in on the other end of the striker shaft so the firing pin is as far forward as it can go. Does the rounded tip of the pin stick out of the bolt face? If so, lube it and put it back together. If you don't see the tip protrude from the firing pin hole, your pin is broken and needs to be replaced. Anyone familiar with the 336 can do this in 30 minutes or less, IF they have a new firing pin!
