Remove the lever screw, and remove the bolt. Now push the firing pin striker shaft up so it touches the rear end of the firing pin, and pust in on the other end of the striker shaft so the firing pin is as far forward as it can go. Does the rounded tip of the pin stick out of the bolt face? If so, lube it and put it back together. If you don't see the tip protrude from the firing pin hole, your pin is broken and needs to be replaced. Anyone familiar with the 336 can do this in 30 minutes or less, IF they have a new firing pin!
