Remington 700 .30-06 Owners... Which bullets do you like?

I just made a perfect shot on a deer yesterday morning with my .30-06 and a 180 grain Core Lokt. It went down on the spot and the bullet definitely did it's job. This was from about 200 yards. Complete pass through and the lungs were pretty much the only internals that were turned to mush. The right shoulder was pretty thrashed but I couldn't find any fragments. I think I'll stick with the 180 grains since my rifle seems to like them. They grouped pretty well at the range out to300 yards. I see no need to switch if I can make a shot like that from that distance.

So do you think the price difference between the Remington Express Core Lokt's and the Remington Premier Core Lokt Ultra Bonded is justified?

i'm one who does believe the price difference between the standard corelokt and the ultra is justified. i've killed many deer with the standard corelokt over the last 45 years, without complaints. i also used the corelokt ultra exclusively for deer 2-3 years ago. all deer killed with the ucl (ultra corelokt) were complete pass-throughs, regardless of distance. i'd use them for elk in a heartbeat out of my 270 win. for deer only, nothing at all wrong with the standard corelokt. but when you put elk in the mix, and the hunt costs 5-8 grand, i want a controlled expansion bullet that i know will penetrate the shoulder. for my last 10-12 elk i have used nosler partitions only. ymmv.
