Ive got a question for you guys. Does anybody have a Remington 7 CDL in a 260 Remington? Or does anybody have a 260 Remington with a 20" barrel? I have been looking at a model 7 to make into a scout rifle and since no one makes a 270 short action cartridge i figured why not a 6.5 bullet? Any load data with preferably a 140 grain bullet would be nice. Thanks.

Are you set on that type of gun and caliber? If you want an awesome "scout" rifle, you should take a look at the Ruger Frontier Rifle. They are chambered in .243 Win., 7mm-08 Rem., .308 Win. and there are also a few other larger caliber offerings for the Frontier. You can get one either in stainless or blued and it already has the forward mount to make it a "scout" rifle. I currently have two of them, a .7mm-08 Rem. and a .300 W.S.M. the 7mm-08 shoots like a dream and is my favorite rifle to hunt deer with. The .300 W.S.M. was only offered for one year from what I heard and it took me a long time to get my hands on one. I have not sighted in this gun yet but I am sure that it will be a powerhouse in a compact package.

Thanks guys... yes i actually have a Ruger Frontier rifle in 308 and i like it but the muzzle blast on that gun with the 16.5" barrel is deafening. i love the handiness of it. but by coopers scout standards the max barrel length is about 20". also im kinda biased against the 7mm, i know its a good bullet and everything but ive just never caught on to that bullet. i did consider a 270 wsm in the model 7 but ive had feeding problems in the past with short magnums. but i really like the idea of a 270 bullet in a short action cartridge. i really love the 270 bullet. and with 6.8 spc, it sounds like a good cartridge but it wont shoot the heavier bullets fast enough. Thanks again.
