Default Headspace on a double barrel shotgun

I have a sears model 311 side by side that has a headspace problem. Can something like that be repaired so the gun can be shot safely?. The gun isn't worth a lot of money.

Yes,it is easily corrected, either by the lockwork,tightening/enlarging hinge pin,or combination of the 2. Assuming it had correct headspace when manufactured and is simply worn,NO problem whatsoever to fix.
