Peep sites
Just wondering if anyone is a fan of aperature sites and what you feel is the best.
I'm looking to put one on my Marlin 336. I'm thinking it will be an XS Sighting Systems Ghost Ring.

RE: Peep sites
my grandpa loves them. He was in vietnam korea and some thing down in south america that he never will really talk about, but he is a dead aim with a peep sight, and he said that is what he used in combat. If you're good with them, like he is, it is very accurate.

RE: Peep sites
I have a Williams peep on my rem 7600 in 30-06. I unscrew thesmall aperature and just use the large outer ring and front bead. The eye centers the large outer ring and the gun is quite accurate especially for fast shooting. To bring good contrast I painted the eye end of the ring bright red and have a red bead on the front. Works like a charm.

Ostdc - I have a Williams peep sight that will fit your marlin 336. I had it on mine until I sold it. It is in perfect shape and will sell it to you at a fair price.
Out to 50 yds I could shoot with it as accurately as I could with a scope. And as the previous post says, you can keep the aperature in or unscrew it and use as a ghost ring. Send me a PM if you're interested.

RE: Peep sites
I highly reccommend the williams sight. I put one on a winchester 94 that I used to have and loved it. IMHO, the factory iron sights put on nearly all hunting rifles with the exception of some of the safari rifles are absolute garbage- and that goes double for Marlin and Winchester lever action sights.
