I should have gotten one of these years ago but didnt. Finally found a NIB Winchester 94 Trapper model in .45 Colt. I think with it's short 16" barrel it's going to make a dandy little truck gun and should be able to dispatch a hog or 2 if shots are kept under 50 yards. Going to try some 250 gr LBT's in her and what happens.

IMO that rifle should be effective at distances far greater than 50 yards. If loaded properly a 45 LC is as effective as a 44 mag, definitely in a rifle. With open sights you should have no problem stretching that rifle out to 150 yards(with practice, and a good bullet mold). Tom.

I had a chance to shoot the Trapper the other day. Just tried some Winchester 250 gr lead loads at 50 yards and it shoots nicely to say the least. Very low in recoil and handles just like I knew it would! Thinking about maybe going to a tru glow fiber optic sight as my eyes are not what they used to be, this thing is a dandy!
