You may want to check in the deer hunting or big game forum. I think you'll get some better responses there.

FWIW, that seems like a lot of gun. What are you planning on shooting with it?

My buddy has one ,in 05 I was butchering a moose in alaska and a black bear ran up to us and started to eat on the moose . My 300 was leaning on a tree beside the bear, so I grabed the 375 rum and my buddy started running behind me after seeing me react. So I shot the bear and it flipped head over hells dead. Now I want one .

Not trying to run you off, but to help you out. There's a gun forum about halfway down the list and you'll get more and better info there than here. Most of these guys here on the bowhunting forum know diddly about guns. For instance, I'd never heard of a 375 RUM until you posted this question. I suddenly feel overwhelmed by ignorance. [&:]

If you want a .375 that's not a .375H&H, I'd get a .375 Ruger....

the .375 RUM wasn't a success, the Ruger has a chance since it fits into a standard action....but the .375H&H is one of the worlds most popular cartridges....so it has an uphill battle, but will give you an extra 100-200fps....

I've shot the 375 RUM quite extensively. It is a superb round, but not for the weak shouldered. I mean they pack a whallop.

I think the 375 ruger will be the nail in the coffin for that bad boy. It is a vicious round though....I was watching the infamous Outdoor Channel( where all the hunts are ethical and nothing is shot within high fences). They were hunting brown bear and the guy that owns Crooked horn outfitters laid the boom on a nice brownie. The Bear looked like it was hit by a Terex going 80MPH ..Instantaneous kill...alll 4 legs stuck in the air Gave me a warm fuzzy inside
