does anyone have any experience with one of these. I may be getting one for between $50 - $100, it has been restocked and appears to be in good condition. I know it is older but is it worth getting for that price.
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

The only drawback to that is that it won't be matching numbers, but for a shooter that's not an issue. For that price jump on it and don't look back. I have three, a 1916 CG a Husqy Commercial sporter built from surplus M96 action and barrel and a former 96/41 sans the mount and scope. I'm going to be cutting the barrel on the former sniper down to 24" and reshape the stock for a sporter contour, that'll be my winter project after deer season this year.

Even at $100.00 that is a good buy unless it is all hacked up.
If it is all military, even if not matching numbers, you'll have a piece of history in a great round. You mentioned it was re-stocked.... was it a sporter re-stock or original military re-stock?
The 96's in original configuration are pleasure to shoot with the longer barrel, military configuration they have extra wieght and the long barell that make accurate iron sight shooting possible. And unless the barrel is in real tough shape it'll probably shoot better than you can.

As long as the metal work isn't too badly mangled, rusted, or messed with, I'd jump all over any swede that was priced at $100. The workmanship on these rifles exceeds any modern mass produced rifles, and they are capable of comparable accuracy as well.

So it looks like just a re-stock job only. Can't see if there's a different trigger from the pics. Looks like the military safety. Bolt looks as if it's a Model 38 cavalry/carbine curved handle but not cut and turned for a scope, but can't be absolutely sure from the pics. And DEFINITELY the original 96 barrel.
I'd jump all over that for $100.00!
You could always find a military stock and have a real nice military conversation piece, or leave it as is and have the deer camp's dedicated long distance iron sight tool.

well I bought the gun. I got it for $60 and suprisingly he also gave me a hard case and ammo pouch with it. The pictures don't really show how good the condition is on thisgun.Case alone is worth almost $40 new at Canadian Tire store. Gun is basically stock except for the stock. Not sure of my plains for it yet but most likely will involve a trigger/safety upgrade so I can get a scope on it. The bolt will also need some work to fit a scope but for what I have into it it appears to be a win win situation.
