RE: new 22
another for the ruger 10/22 and savage .22;)
|
RE: new 22
The Savage Mark IIis heavy at 7 1/4 pounds, a plastic trigger guard, not many mods can be done to them unlike the Ruger. The bolt action is good for a kid just learning to shoot. The Remington 597, well enough has been said about its problems. Marlin model 60 great all around reliable shooter. Best bang for the buck is the Ruger 10/22!

RE: new 22
Just wondering,Do you want a semi? Bolt? Paper puncher? Hunter? All of the above?what is your budget? As said above everybody should have at least one 10/22.The remmie Speedmasters are hard to beat, Browning semi ? What can I say all time classic and favorite.Bolts? How about a Anschutz If you are looking for just a good paper puncher I have a Remington 540X I might part with.It is a single shot,Looks like something they use in a Biathalon(sp.)If on a tight budget look around for an old bolt action .You can get older Remington bolts for anywhere from $75.00 to "You have got to be kidding me" :Drimfire central is a good source of information JMHO

Put in my vote for the 10/22

The Savage Mark IIis heavy at 7 1/4 pounds, a plastic trigger guard, not many mods can be done to them unlike the Ruger. If you want accurate for under $500, get a older remington 513,540-series, 580 series, or Mossberg bolt action. If money is no object, a Winchester 52 or Anschutz is king. For a semiauto, the 10/22 can either be the best plinker or the biggest money-pit depending on what you want to use it for. The Marlin 60 is a great gun, as for the remington 597- been there, done that, got the t-shirt to prove it, and will probably never buy another new remington product because of it[:@] |

RE: new 22
wow i didint know the 597 were that bad Edit: a friend of mine just picked up a 597 as his first .22 rifle against my advice last week. He really likes its accuracy, but he also said that at least he's getting a lot of practice at clearing FTF jams. |
RE: new 22
lol
what are FTF jams? |
