I have the Savage in the .223. I love the accu-trigger, but I don't love the gun. I'm gonna swap scopes on it this week to see if it's the scope. I have 2 Remington SPS's, one in .270, and one in 300 ultra mag. I had trigger jobs on both of them and they are my go to rifles. I've never shotthe Remington SPSVarmit series, but I love the SPS. I'm not sure what the varmit series triggers are like, but if they are like the regular SPS triggers, I would recommend a trigger job are changing triggers. Good luck and show us pics on what you decide!!!

I have to agree with Colorado about the trigger's. Personally I can take or leave the Accu-Trigger. I prefer a good crisp, adjusted Remington trigger-but to me it is a toss up. For me the problem with the Savage is their stocks. I just do not care for them. I also find it ironic that when Remington and Savage both use the same stock-the Savage rifle costs more?? I would go with the Remington, as long as you can get the twist rate you want. IMO Savage has the ear of the shooter's in their rifling twists.
There are a lot of different things to consider. Tom.
