RE: Safeties....2 position or 3 position??
I have always liked the Winchester type of 3 position safety. For me, it just seems like a more natural movement, swinging my thumb and flipping the wing all the way forward. A tang safetyis OK but not a favorite. I can say that I don't like the position of the safety on rifles like the Model 700. Seems like I'm always "feeling" for the safety on a Remingtonwhen I am ready to shoot.

There is a lot to like about a tang safety...I have never seen an O/U or SxS shotgunwith a wing safety or a side safety because a tang out of all the safeties is the easiest to manipulate.

That would be a barrel selector
Here's a SxS with a "side" safety...

Noooo, that would be the safety... Are you going to tell me how my gun works now??? lol lol
I guess it wouldn't be if it has 2 triggers but
What is sitting on the tang of the gun? looks like a safety to me

I like 3 pos. safety's because you can unload the gun with the safety still on.... Like in my Ruger M77 Mark II's. I believe they are the best safety's going, especially for young hunters.
That said, the conveinence of the 2 pos. tang safety like on my Browning A-Bolts is very convienent and quiet. They are great to hunt with as the safety is in a natural position under my thumb, but I do not feel they are as safe as 3 pos. guns.
God Bless
