I use only #4 hi brass for rabbit. I've found that #4 has more retained pellet energy,producing cleaner kills at any range while leaving less holes (and shot) in meat. I've found that #4 will be more apt to completely penetrate,and holes are almost same size as smaller shot. The thing to remember about shot tearing up meat is that you should choose choke accordingly instead of shooting the rabbits too close or too far for the shotshells/shot size. It makes no sense to shoot at rabbits withlow brass #7.5and full choke at 15 yards or high brass magnum #4 with cylinder choke at 60 yards. You have to match choke with distance your going to be shooting.

I prefer 1 7/8 ounce of Copper Plated #2 Lead myself. Those Saber Toother Wabid Wabbits are vicious lil buggers.[8D]

SwampCollie, just out of curiosity, what do you use?

I limited it to 12ga because right now the smallest scattergun i have is a 16, and the load selection for 16s is very slim around here.

#4 shot out of a .410, less pellets, tighter pattern, Head shot..
