I've never seen one of these "lousy shooting" 10/22s. I have at least 3 of them right now, and 1 is all tricked out, the others are all stock, and shoot the cheap ammo into tight lil groups. The trigger upgrade is not necessary for what you are doing with this. Get a 10/22 and enjoy it.

I had a marlin model 60 and I have a Ruger 10/22 and I would take the ruger hands down. It shoots great and loads easy trust me the tube mag gets old fast. My ruger shots the center dot out of a tagret at 50 yards when using shooting sticks. When I got it I shot against my dad and the marling 60 he had for 30 years and shot just as good and it was the first time the gun was shot. It will only get better it use.

My ruger will. It was brand new and the marlin was 40 years old. Basically the ruger blow the pants off it.

The Marlin 60 is about as good as it gets for the money!
The 597 wouldn't make a good trout line anchor!

you can get a blued ruger for under $200 and a stainless one for about $240 and you wont regret it,the marlin model 60 will be somewhat cheaper but I dont like them as well as the rugers, they both shoot good enough, but I've never had problems with the ruger like I have with the marlins they wear out and start to jam, sooner or later.I've owned two and it happened to both of them,Ive owned the same ruger for 20+ years and never had any problems with it.

i keep hearing conflicting reports on the remington is it good or not? i heard the remington is better than the ruger out of the box and more accurate and you have to put in new trigger and other stuff to make as accurate as remington
