Wondering if it worked for you. Last Remington I bought had serious quality control problems. Daughter biscuit is looking for a home defense piece.

I haven't bought one since about 1995 I guess, My mid 90's 870 has been flawless.

Bought a 870express ~2 years ago and its been flawless. Haven't really shot it that much though, probably around 900-1000 rounds thru it without a hiccup(mostly skeet, some turkey loads). It sits beside the bed most of the time, while the citori gets to go out and do most of the playing.

You need to save that problem 870 as that bird is so rare as having problems it might be worth some money to collectors kinda like misprinted coins. Seriously I havn't seen any 870s with problems other than people wanting custom work done (backboring, trigger, choke work, etc).

My aunt and uncle own three of them and won't buy any other kind. Great shot gun and especially for the money.

me and my dad both got one a few years ago and when we first got them we couldnt pump it. it would jus get stuck and you'd have to use all your muscle you had to get it to go. but we've put more then a few rounds through and there flawless now. i'd take an 870 any day.

If I'm not wrong, the Model 870 is the best selling shotgun ever? I have the 870 Express 3 1/2"Super Mag. It's the real deal.
