Since you want to enjoy shooting it at the range, I would not pick a Magnum. My vote? 6.5x55, 260, 257 Robert. I love the 250-3000 but 300 yards is strechig a bit for that one. The 308 would be good but at the top of the recoil chart of those mentioned. Except for the 7mm Mag.
